Adventurer’s Journal – Day 8
It was a door. Right there in front of us!
“I certainly wasn’t expect THAT!” exclaimed Pimzul, a look of astonishment glued to his face. He’s always been an overactor, so I couldn’t tell if it was real or feigned.
Grog pushed on the door but it didn’t budge. He pushed again, putting his shoulder into it. Nothing. With an audible sigh, Mysty turned the doorknob and opened the door. “The gods are with you, Myst!” praised Shelkiener as she brushed past us and walked through the doorway.
Like lemmings, we followed her and once again couldn’t believe what we saw. Now that I write this, I realize we rarely believe what we see. We have so little faith. Except Mysty. She’s got plenty of faith. She needs to or the gods she serves may stop giving her insight into the Beyond, and we’d still be standing at that door.
Past the door we saw a grassy field with cows, a distant treeline, and a green dragon flying over a magnificent castle. But everything was slanted. Grog moved forward and placed his hands on either side of the painting, pushing the left side down. “Now that that’s straightened out,” he said with his lopsided grin as he tapped the picture with the back of his hand. Grog disappeared.
